DJ Rukiz – 50 Cent: Bulletproof Blends

It’s been a minute since I got a Rukiz CD and I’m glad he still on his blend game. Just off his name alone and the fact that he blending 50 Cent will move units like crack was being pumped outta The Carter. Quick question for the readers. What’s the most important thing you need when you fucking with a blend CD? ………..THE BEATS! Let’s see how Rukiz do.

“In My Hood” is a decent jump off. Rukiz flips three WU beats: Cream, Can’t It Be, and Rae Beat”. Now 50 Cent spitting acid over “Get” is a nice ass combo. The fucking drums on this beat are thick and quick on some Impeach the President type shit. If the hook on “Gatman & Robin” wasn’t weak like clock radio speakers the blend would have sounded smooth. “Whip Ya Head” sounded like a minor train wreck to me, the beat was just too loud. Straight head nod music on “Gunz Come Out”, until the hook hits. Another three beat blend though and the third joint made the shit truly pop off. I’m not gonna tell you what it is though you gots to cop it. The DJ Semi laced “Diamonds” blend was crack-a-licious, Tony Yayo and Lloyd banks should thank him. The shit that got me amped up was “Get In My Car”, that first beat is dangerous.

Just to keep it 100, Rukiz got a tight ear for blends….always has. With me though on this CD shit was either banging or it was average. That’s why you looking at 2 1/2 tapes up top. The shit that works but didn’t really hold my ear was that Rukiz got a lot of R&B; ish/ top 40 joints. They mesh well with 50 though, especially some of the hooks. He def brought some classic beats to that table and that’s what makes the joint cop’able in my eyes. Regardless, the blend game is heating back up again and with joints like this moving to the masses it’s only gonna grow the genre.
