DJ Skee & Crooked I – Young Boss Vol. 2

“Fuck being a king! I’m the boss of the West!” Crooked I got a huge ego but he also got the skills to back it up. If your not in Cali or the West Coast then you might have never heard son. Even ya boy Touché Turtle ain’t get to hear enough from Crooked I. Respects to DJ Skee putting Crooked I back on the mixtape map.

What I know about Crooked I is that dude has always had this gangsta lyricist type of style. At times I’ve questioned some of his lyrics but he really impressed me on this mixtape. Especially his delivery and flow it’s got that professional stamp. Naw mean like when you hear dude rappin it ain’t no joke. I don’t like to make comparisons but it’s almost like he’s somewhere in-between like a Ras Kass and Yukmouth. One of my fav joints on here is All I Ever Wanted. Crook does the damn thang wit the flow over that soulful jam. Cali Boyz follows that joint and is on some jump off mob shit. Good joint to bump in ride on some swervin, speedin shit. On this one song he does his ghetto R. Kelly impersonation on the song Crazy Ho. Sometimes you gotta have fun on a mixtape like that joint. Back to the L.B.C. was another hot joint for the ride. Turn that bass up muthafuckas. Rap 101 is where Crooked I teaches a lesson on the art of MCing. Dude is a serious problem yall. If you need proof check out his freestyle on that classic Black Superman beat.

Props once again to DJ Skee for putting together a banging mixtape and putting the spotlight on Crooked I for a minute. All he needs is some high caliber production and the machine behind him. I might be mistaken but if Crooked I is a free-agent then one of these majors needs to wake the fuck up and sign this Young Boss.
